On December 14, 2018, the Faculty of Law of the University of Malaga hosted an International Seminar to present the results of the RIMES Research Project and the objectives of a new research project called AP-RIMES.

The RIMES project has designed an internationally validated comparative tool for measuring social exclusion created by criminal justice policies in the Western industrialized world. As part of the project, this tool was applied in Spain to measure how socially exclusive is the Spanish criminal policy.

The proposed AP-RIMES project aims to apply the comparative tool in five additional countries: four European countries (Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland), and two of the most populated states in the United States (California and New York).

The Seminar was structured around 3 speeches, through which the academics analyzed various aspects related mainly to the RIMES instrument and its application in other countries.

The Seminar was attended by international experts from several countries, members of the EmpiriC Excellence Network and professors and researchers from the Criminal Law Department and the Andalusian Interuniversity Institute of Criminology. The diversity of participants led to intense debates that will be of great benefit for the future of the project

The International Seminar was organized by José Luís Díez-Ripollés and Elisa García-España, main researchers of the RIMES project, Anabel Cerezo, Director of the Institute of Criminology, as well as members of the research team from the Institute of Criminology and the Criminal Law Department of the University of Málaga.
